In partnership with The California Endowment, the Institute recruited and worked with university-based researchers to produce reports that addressed issues of concern for Boyle Heights. This project was part of The California Endowment’s state-wide Building Health Communities initiative, which seeks to improve the health and quality of life for all Californians, especially those who live in underserved communities.
Building off this objective, our reports seek to inform various stakeholders about key neighborhood issues as well as provide applicable policy recommendations. The topics of research ranged from healthcare and food justice to community safety and investment in local youth. The researchers presented to their findings to representatives from community organizations at an event in Boyle Heights on August 22nd, 2017.
