Description

Established in Ink features the work of tattoo artist Richard Vasak of Inkfiend Art Studio. While popular today, Asian American tattoos and tattooing in the San Gabriel Valley had early associations with gangs and gang life. This exhibit tells the story of a well-known artist, Richard Vasak, who emerged from the streets to establish himself as one of the most prolific and respected Asian American artists in the tattoo community. This exhibit also highlights a form of self-expression that uses the body as a canvas to tell an individual and community story.

Presented by the Department of Asian/Asian American Studies and the University Library Special Collections and Archives.
