Things to Know
Each graduating student who registers to participate will be allotted up to seven (7) guest tickets for their ceremony during the online registration period listed above.
All guests 3 years of age and older will require a ticket to attend Commencement and enter the venue. Children ages 2 and under can attend Commencement without a ticket, provided they sit on an adult's lap and do not occupy a seat. Each guest ticket has a unique bar code. Once scanned, copies of the same ticket will not be valid.
Please note that Commencement guest tickets are free and cannot be bought or sold. Under no circumstance should an exchange of money occur for tickets. Tickets that are bought or sold will be invalidated by the University.
The Stage Pass, your official ticket as a graduating student, will be automatically assigned to you upon completing your registration. You can access it on the Tassel homepage after logging in and can be saved and displayed on a mobile device using Apple or Google Wallet.
To enter the venue, you must present your Stage Pass at the student entrance (not the guest entrance), where it will be scanned for entry and access to the student check-in area. Your Stage Pass will also be scanned on stage to display and announce your name.
The student entrance is located at the Shrine Expo Hall on 32nd Street. For safety and security, all graduating students must go through security screening, which includes metal detectors and potential bag checks.
Once you have registered and reserved your guest tickets, you can always log back in to Tassel, the Commencement registration and guest ticketing platform, to email or print your guest tickets. Link will be available March 24, 2025 at 9 a.m. PT.
Enter your @calstatela.edu email address and the password you previously established in the ticketing platform.
After the registration period, any unclaimed tickets will be pooled by ceremony, and students may have the opportunity to reserve up to two additional guest tickets, depending on availability. Please note that additional tickets are not guaranteed and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until all are claimed. Due to high attendance at all ceremonies, only a limited number of extra tickets will be available.
Instructions for reserving additional tickets will be posted by the end of the next business day after registration closes on April 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT.
If you just submitted your graduation application, please note that it does not automatically grant you access to Tassel, the registration and guest ticketing system. It can take up to 72 hours for the Commencement team to process your information from the Graduation Office and enter it into Tassel. Please keep this timeline in mind, as it impacts Commencement registration and guest ticketing deadlines.
The Graduation Office sends a list of late applicants and other updates (name and term changes) to the Commencement Office every Monday and Thursday mornings.
Upon receiving the updated list, the Commencement Office staff will enter the information into Tassel and notify students of the next steps by the end of the following business day. Please keep this timeline in mind, as it impacts Commencement registration and guest ticketing deadlines.
AFTER THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE
After Commencement registration ends on April 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT, late applicants can still participate in the ceremonies but please note the following:
Guest tickets are no longer guaranteed.
The Stage Pass can no longer be issued, and students will be given a manual name card at Commencement.
Names can no longer be displayed during Commencement and the livestream.
Name announcements will not be included in the college virtual program.
Tickets cannot be requested via email and can only be acquired online during the registration period.
It is the graduating student's responsibility to register to participate and reserve guest tickets in a timely manner. After ticketing has closed, graduating students can still request to participate but are no longer guaranteed guest tickets due to venue capacity.
Registration and ticketing login information/confirmation will only be sent to your @calstatela.edu email address.
