Annotations for DEI in Online Course Design

Annotations for DEI in Online Course Design

Our project aims to create a series of DEI annotations that connect online course design standards with inclusive teaching practices. Each annotation supplements common course design standards with guidance on addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Annotations will include the following:

  • Specific, actionable techniques
  • Course design and facilitation considerations (each addressed separately)
  • Examples and/or scenarios of how the techniques help the needs of specific students
  • The specific CVC-OEI, OSCQR, QLT, or QM rubric standard/objective aligned with the annotation
  • Citations to the theories and research supporting the diversity, equity, and inclusion practices
  • Tags (metadata) for exploring the annotations in ways distinct from online course quality assurance.
