INTRODUCTION

For many years I have had the opportunity of working in a large, public, urban university with many experienced and talented faculty teaching a diverse group of graduate and doctoral level students. My overall professional and personal goal is to promote social justice, and advocate for and support all my students in becoming highly effective classroom/educational leaders in the Los Angeles community.

 

Hong-lie Qiu

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Qiu graduated with a Ph.D. in Geography in 1994 at Louisiana State University. He received his B.A. also in Geography in 1981 from Fujian Teachers University in China. Before joining the Department of Geography and Urban Analysis at CalState L.A., he worked as a research associate in the Remote Sensing and Image Processing Lab at Louisiana State University for 5 years. Since 1996, Dr. Qiu has been working with the University as a tenure-track and then tenured faculty member. 

Heidi Paul

 

INTRODUCTION

Heidi Paul, Ph.D. is the coordinator of MS Counseling, option Rehabilitation program. She is an associate tenured professor and has enjoyed her work at Cal State, Los Angeles for the past 16 years

 


 

TEACHING INTERESTS

Gabriela Simon-Cereijido

Dr. Gabriela Simon-Cereijido completed her graduate studies at Teachers College, Columbia University, and at University of California, San Diego/San Diego State University. She investigates the language characteristics of bilingual (Spanish-English) preschool children with language impairment and conducts clinical intervention studies with this population. Her work has been published in several national and international journals. In addition, she has extensive clinical experiences with bilingual children with language disorders. 

Dr. Emily Jo Hernandez, LMFT

 

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Emily J. Hernandez is an associate professor from Cal State University, Los Angeles in the School-Based Family Counseling Program and brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and mental health. Her professional background includes working directly with schools, families, and communities in a variety of settings including child welfare and attendance, counseling, K-12, administration, clinical mental health, employee assistance services in education, counselor preparation/educatio and private practice.

Eileen Ford

 

 

TEACHING INTERESTS

I teach a wide variety of classes for both undergraduate and graduate students.  Topics include: Mexico, Historical Research and Writing, Historiography, Gender and Sexuality, Research Seminars, and Teacher Preparation courses (among others).
