INTRODUCTION

Dr. Qiu graduated with a Ph.D. in Geography in 1994 at Louisiana State University. He received his B.A. also in Geography in 1981 from Fujian Teachers University in China. Before joining the Department of Geography and Urban Analysis at CalState L.A., he worked as a research associate in the Remote Sensing and Image Processing Lab at Louisiana State University for 5 years. Since 1996, Dr. Qiu has been working with the University as a tenure-track and then tenured faculty member. 


TEACHING INTERESTS

Dr. Qiu's teaching and research interests include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, physical geography, biogeography, and China. Courses he has yaught include:

Dr. Qiu's research interests inlude GIS and remote sensing applications in desert environment, 3D mapping and modeling, and web GIS application development.
