Andrew Lyndon Knighton (Ph.D., 2004, University of Minnesota) is Professor of English at California State University, Los Angeles. He teaches literary theory, American literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and modern and contemporary poetry. His research has appeared in numerous journals; his book, Idle Threats: Men and the Limits of Productivity in Nineteenth-Century America, was published by NYU Press in 2012.

Educational Bachground
I joined the Department of Child and Family Studies in Fall, 2008. I am a Developmental Psychologist who has devoted my research career to conducting research that can help inform policy and practice to improve the environments in which young children develop. I was a Research Scientist at Columbia University's National Center for Children and Families from 1996-2002, and Research Scientist at the UCLA Center for Improving Child Care Quality from 2002 to 2009.
Having retired in 2014 I still maintain a part time teaching position in the Department of Technology at Cal State LA. I like to continue to inspire my students with my 30 plus years of teaching experiences while transitioning into my full retirement sometimes in the future.
