Instructor Use of Respondus Software

Instructors can use the Respondus software to create and import questions directly to Moodle. This software provides the most comprehensive solution, including meeting the needs of all the scenarios described above. Please note, the Respondus software requires a Windows PC. Schedule an appointment with CETL lab staff to review the Respondus software to see if this option is right for you. All PC computers in the CETL Co-Lab space (FA 138) run the Respondus software

Detailed Instructions

Create a quiz with multiple choice and T/F questions only.

Use the Aiken Quiz Question format to import multiple choice and T/F questions from a specially formatted text document. This method allows the mass importing of questions without needing to create each question one-by-one in Moodle. Because this method is not dependent on the Respondus software, faculty are free to import and build quizzes at anytime regardless of computer platform.

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Type and format your quiz questions using Aiken format (Aiken Quiz Question Format)
  2. Create a Moodle Quiz Shell (How to Create a Quiz Shell)
  3. Create a Question Bank to receive your imported questions (Managing Your Question Bank)
  4. Import Aiken formatted questions to Question Bank (Importing Questions)
  5. Add questions to Quiz from Questions Bank (Adding Questions to Quiz)
