 The Student Services Center is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  On Friday we are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Our office is located in Salazar Hall 256B and our phone number is (323) 343-2810.

Preparing for Your Advisement Session:
1. Please be prepared with the questions you want to ask your advisor.
2. If you have questions about the policies and regulations of the university, please check the university catalog.  If you are still unsure and need further guidance feel free to make an appointment with an advisor.
3. If you wish to discuss your academic plan please review your Unofficial Transcripts, as well as your CAAR (advisement) report in your GET account before attending your appointment.
5. Plan ahead in order to make your time with an Advisor more productive.

Expectations of Students:
It is important for students to understand that they must take an active role in advisement. Students are responsible for making and following through on their own decisions. They are expected to
1. See an Advisor on a regular basis and show up on time to the appointment.
2. Check your CSULA email regularly. This is the official means of communication used by the University. (You can find step-by-step instructions to forward your CSULA email to your personal account at the following link: Forwarding CSULA email to personal email .)
3. Arrive at advisement sessions with a list of questions and issues to discuss with the Advisor.
4. Know the requirements for staying in good standing.
5. Maintain accurate and complete advising records.

Expectations of Advisors:
1. Assist the student with their declared major and general education requirements.
2. Review the students’ selection of classes to make sure courses are appropriate.
3. Help the student develop strategies for academic success.4. Provide information regarding University requirements, policies & procedures.
