Psychological Services for Students
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
To make an appointment, call 323-343-3300 or stop by the second floor of the Student Health Center. CAPS hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-5:45 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis after hours, you can call our After-Hours Crisis Hotline at 323-343-3314 to be connected to a counselor.

The Office of the Dean of Students can assist students who may be experiencing distress, anguish, or disruption in response to world events. The office connects students who are navigating personal, academic, or health issues to supportive campus and community resources.

Employee Assistance Program
Employees may find counseling assistance through the Employee Assistance Program, LifeMatters, by calling 1-800-367-7474 or visiting the LifeMatters website. Our company password is GOEAGLES.
Campus Safety
Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety offers a free walking Eagle Patrol escort service to help students, faculty, staff, and visitors feel safe while on campus. For more information about this service, please call 323-343-3700.
Rave Guardian App
The Cal State LA Department of Public Safety offers the RAVE Guardian app which allows you to use your smartphone to stay connected and stay safe on campus. By downloading the free app on your mobile phone, you will be able to directly contact officers at the Department of Public Safety, if needed. You can also enable push notifications as an additional way to receive campus emergency notifications and safety advisories.
We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to download this free app. Simply search for “Rave Guardian” in the app store (iPhone or Android) on your mobile device. Download the app, follow the prompts, and enter your phone number and Cal State LA email.
