EPIC Event Involvement

n

I AM PRE-MED has found CSULA's EPIC office to be extremely resourceful in providing volunteer opportunities for our members. EPIC regularly coordinates community outreach opportunities throughout the semester and are very dependable in making our involvement as easy as possible. Among the many programs EPIC offers include:

  1. Come Adopt a Pet!
  2. Toy and Food Drive
  3. America Reads and America Counts
  4. Cal State LA: Here We Come

The EPIC office even offers a "Summer Yourth Employment Program" for selected CSULA students to partner with Para Los Ninos. Funded by the City of Los Angeles, the 38-year-old program places 90-100 youths in University departments and offices to work alongside professional full-time staff supervisors for four weeks. These young people receive on-the-job training to develop specific skills in their interests, as well as weekly sessions on topics such as college admissions, financial aid, and student support programs like the Equal Opportunity Program (EOP) and the First Year Experience.
