Monkeypox

Monkeypox in L.A. County

Cal State LA is closely monitoring the spread of the monkeypox virus in L.A. County.

Though the risk of exposure to monkeypox in the general population currently remains very low, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health encourages everyone to assess their own risk by considering the ways in which the virus can be spread and modifying activities that may put them at risk. While exposure to respiratory secretions can lead to monkeypox infection, most reported cases have been linked to direct contact with the monkeypox rash, scabs, or bodily fluids of someone infected with this virus.
