This annual tradition honors the meaningful contributions made across our campus and recognizes those whose daily efforts leave a lasting impact on our community.
As we celebrate the accomplishments of our staff, faculty, and student employees, we are pleased to include the Outstanding Professor Awards as part of this campuswide recognition. We are also proud to introduce a new award category, the Rookie of the Year Award, which recognizes an individual or team in the first year of a new role or program whose contributions have already made a significant difference. Excellence in Action
Awards that recognize the outstanding performance and exemplary service of Cal State LA faculty, staff, and student employees. All nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The Employee Recognition and Service Awards Committee will thoughtfully review each nomination and select a recipient in every category by August 26, 2026.
The President’s Golden Eagle Excellence Award is the University’s highest employee honor. This award recognizes an exceptional employee who serves as the driving force behind Cal State LA’s mission of transformation.
This individual demonstrates exemplary performance and an outstanding commitment to our mission and fostering a positive, university-wide impact. This distinction honors the dedicated employee whose professional mastery, integrity, and daily commitment to university values have helped our institution soar.

- A one-time cash award of $2,500 cash stipend.
- A commemorative plaque and official commendation from the University.

Eligibility and Criteria:

To uphold the high standards of this honor, nominees must have at least five years of continuous service as of FY 2025–2026 (July 2025–June 2026) and demonstrate excellence across the following pillars:
- Inspiring Excellence & Integrity: Consistently upholds the highest levels of integrity and professionalism in their daily work. They serve as grounded role model, inspiring others through their dedication to quality and ethical conduct.
- Transformative Initiative: Proactively identifies challenges and implements solutions that drive growth. They act as a catalyst for positive change, supporting the upward mobility of our students and the efficiency of our campus.
- Collaborative Engagement: Excels in teamwork and internal partnerships. They strengthen university connections through a steadfast commitment to helping colleagues and external partners succeed.

Initiated in 1983, the Outstanding Staff Award recognizes members of the University community who have made significant contributions to improve the campus environment and support the success of Cal State LA's students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

The We Are LA Community Award recognizes an individual that embodies the Cal State LA mission and vision through meaningful contributions to local communities. - Collaborative Excellence: The team demonstrated a seamless ability to coordinate efforts, leveraging the unique strengths of each member to achieve a result that exceeds what could be done individually.
- Exceptional Outcomes: The group’s work led to a measurable advancement, such as the successful launch of a new program, a significant improvement in campus efficiency, or a solution to a complex institutional challenge.
- Proactive Problem Solving: The team identified obstacles and worked collectively to implement innovative solutions, maintaining a helpful and "solution-oriented" mindset throughout the process.
