A separation form is required when the student employee will no longer be employed with the University for one of the following reasons:
- A student employee resigns before the end of the temporary appointment.
- The completed form should be forwarded immediately to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable no later than 72 hours thereafter.
- Department is discharging the employee earlier than the end of the temporary appointment.
- The completed form should be forwarded, at least five days before the last date of employment, to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable immediately.
- Department is not planning to retain the employee beyond the end of the temporary appointment.
- The completed form should be forwarded, at least five days before the last date of employment, to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable immediately.
Process for Separations
Email the employee name, CIN, and last day of employment to [email protected] and studemp@calstatela.edu.
Complete the separation form using our approved Adobe Sign signatory workflow and email it to [email protected] and studemp@calstatela.edu.
REMINDER: Enter on the separation form one of the following reasons that the employee will no longer be employed with the University:
- Early termination of the temporary appointment.
- An employee resigns before the end of the term or appointment.
- Department is not planning to retain the employee beyond the end of the term.
Payable time must be entered and approved immediately to allow for timely paycheck disbursement.
If the student assistant had access Navigate LA as an employee, supervisors are to submit an EAB Navigate LA request to remove student assistant role access.
Access the EAB Navigate LA Request
Visit the Enrollment Management Technology webpage, select the Request Assistance drop down list, and click on Request Assistance.
Complete the EAB Navigate LA Request
When completing the form, ensure the following information is submitted: Include the student employee information in the Requestor Information section. Select Student Employee Access in the Subcategory drop down list found under the Request Information section. Submit the same date of separation in the Date needed by found in the Request Information section. Indicate Remove Student Employee Access, student name, and CIN in the description section found under Additional Information.
