Separation

A separation form is required when the student employee will no longer be employed with the University for one of the following reasons:

  • A student employee resigns before the end of the temporary appointment.
    • The completed form should be forwarded immediately to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable no later than 72 hours thereafter.
  • Department is discharging the employee earlier than the end of the temporary appointment.
    • The completed form should be forwarded, at least five days before the last date of employment, to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable immediately.
  • Department is not planning to retain the employee beyond the end of the temporary appointment.
    • The completed form should be forwarded, at least five days before the last date of employment, to [email protected] and [email protected]. Wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable immediately.

Process for Separations

Email the employee name, CIN, and last day of employment to [email protected] and studemp@calstatela.edu.

Complete the separation form using our approved Adobe Sign signatory workflow and email it to [email protected] and studemp@calstatela.edu.

REMINDER: Enter on the separation form one of the following reasons that the employee will no longer be employed with the University:

  • Early termination of the temporary appointment.
  • An employee resigns before the end of the term or appointment.
  • Department is not planning to retain the employee beyond the end of the term.

Payable time must be entered and approved immediately to allow for timely paycheck disbursement.
