The Cal State LA Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit California corporation in 1985 to provide and augment funding for the University, not otherwise available or funded by the California State University system. Gifts made to the Foundation support student scholarships, programs and services that enrich academic opportunities at Cal State LA.
The Foundation primarily receives funds from private sources. The funds, their use and distribution, are governed by the Board of Trustees drawn from alumni, faculty, staff, students and members of the larger community, in accordance with the Foundation's Articles of Incorporation, by-laws and policies and procedures.
The Cal State LA Foundation has 501(c)(3) non-profit exempt status, with a federal tax ID number of 95-4044252.
