Advisement

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures provides two kinds of advisement services to students in its classes: Subject Advisement and M.A. Program Advisement. While responsibility for Subject Advisement is shared by all full-time faculty, M.A. Program Advisement is the special assignment of the Graduate Advisor.

Subject Advisement addresses concerns related to coursework and the field of study it represents. The most obvious occasion for using this advisement service is to discuss particular questions related to a class. Students are encouraged to call upon or make an appointment with instructors during their posted office hours for assistance on all matters related to the language class in which they are enrolled.

M.A. Program Advisement encompasses a wide range of topics, including program planning, course selection, petitions, requests for leaves of absence, graduation checks, etc.  Students wishing to schedule an appointment with the Department's Graduate Advisor should call 323.343.4230.

Students wishing to speak to a faculty member should consult the schedules posted just to the right of the Department Office (King Hall DlO54).

To schedule an appointment with an A&L advisement staff, please go to College of Arts and Letters Advisement Center website, and make an appointment online.
