Wellness Fair 22-23

Text: Wellness Fair

The Student Health Center assessed their annual Wellness Fair - Well-Chella 2023.

434 participated in Well-Chella.

The Wellness Fair connects with the Health and Wellness domain by promoting healthy attitudes, skills, and behaviors among the campus community. Through its diverse range of interactive activities and informative booths, the fair successfully empowered participants to prioritize their well-being and make positive lifestyle choices.

  1. At least 50% of students will report learning new information about their health and well-being as a result of attending the fair.
  2. At least 50% of students will report intentions to implement at least one positive change related to their health in the next three months as a result of attending the wellness fair.
  3. At least 50% of students will indicate they learned new information about the support services on campus.
  4. At least 50% of students will indicate the wellness fair helped them feel connected to campus.

The assessment data collected from the Wellness Fair demonstrates that students not only met but also exceeded the learning outcomes set for the event. The data highlights the fair's success in promoting comprehensive health and wellness education, empowering students to make positive lifestyle changes and fostering a culture of well-being on campus. The following key points emerged from the analysis:

  • Students felt more connected to the campus community as a result of attending the Wellness Fair.
  • The vast majority of students felt they had learned new information related to their health and well-being and, more significantly, planned to make changes to improve their health as a result of their attendance.

While the evaluation data spoke to a highly successful outreach and education event, data collection was limited to participants who completed the full fair participation card and excluded students who engaged in Wellness Fair programming but did not have time or did not wish to complete the required visits to booths. This also likely resulted in a lower overall attendance count and does not reflect the true number of participants.

Overall, the Wellness Fair showcases the Student Health Center’s (SHC) impact on student health and well-being beyond the medical and psychological services provided on campus. It also demonstrates the collaborative approach the SHC adopts for improving student outcomes and underscores the importance of engaging other partners on campus in wellness programming. The Wellness Fair reflects a holistic approach to student wellness that encompasses clinical services along with prevention education and health promotion to support academic success.

The successful track record of the annual Wellness Fair merits its continued inclusion in the SHC’s outreach programming calendar. An expansion of the wellness fair offerings in spring 2024 to include more community partners, additional topic areas suggested by students, and additional screenings will further enhance an already robust program.
