Welcome home Golden Eagles.

Golden Eagle Boulevard is an annual event and is included in the Welcome Home programming that starts off each academic year.

Golden Eagle Boulevard successfully introduced and connected 422 Cal State LA students to specific wellness resources.

Golden Eagle Boulevard presented students with an opportunity to engage in activities and strategies that promote healthy attitudes, skills, and behaviors by connecting them directly to the campus departments that specialize in these resources.

By participating in this program, students will learn how to access and be encouraged to utilize resources associated with their mental, nutritional, and financial health and wellness.

Golden Eagle Boulevard was successful in exposing and connecting over 400 Cal State LA students to specific wellness resources. Through partnerships with key offices, Golden Eagle Boulevard helped students better understand ways to positively impact their mental, nutritional, and financial health and well-being.

The highest percentage of participants by class level were seniors (29.2%) and the lowest percentage were sophomores (15.3%). These figures reflect anecdotal accounts shared by students that they remain unaware of the majority of resources and benefits available to them on campus. This is perhaps in part because they are not participating in these sorts of open-access events. While the resources presented at this event would certainly benefit students in their last academic year, it could be argued that this information would be more useful for students in their first and second academic years, as they would have more opportunities to actualize the knowledge.

Given the results of this analysis, New Student and Family Engagement will want to refocus our efforts on promoting these informational events to all students, but especially those in their first and second year. Promotion is most commonly done through email and more traditional social media platforms such as Instagram, but as a department, we may want to focus more on the communication channels that target newer students such as the Orientation reservation site Task List and the private channels in the GETmobile app. This action can be implemented in fall of 2023.
