Our Stories Without Borders kick-off initiates a week's worth of events that highlight our undocumented students and the work that they are doing.

Tuesday, October 7

Art & Spoken Word

Join us for Art & Spoken Word: Stories Without Borders, a workshop and open mic experience that celebrates creativity, storytelling, and community. Throughout the event, featured poets Virginia Bulacio, Jean-Pierre Rueda, and Jesenia Chávez will each lead an interactive poetry workshop and share their own work. Attendees are encouraged to write, share, and ground themselves in a creating artwork on canvases.

Wednesday, October 8

A Dream Called Home by Reyna Grande

2 – 4 p.m. 
U-SU Theater

Award-winning author Reyna Grande will join us to share a reading from her work, followed by a Q&A and book signing. Grande is the author A Dream Called Home, and other books exploring immigration, family, and the American Dream. Born in Iguala, Mexico, Grande made her own journey across the border at age nine before becoming the first in her family to attend college.

Thursday, October 9

Business and Resource Fair Presentations

2 – 4 p.m.
U-SU LA Rooms

We will be hosting a business resource fair where student entrepreneurs will showcase their businesses, products, and services. We will also have presentations for those interested in starting their own business.
