Dr. Cupchoy uses a Canvas Discussion and a Practice Quiz for students to check-in on their progress in an ongoing group project, in this case, a presentation and a cultural product.

In a Canvas Discussion open to all students

One member of the group posts a progress report on behalf of the group, listing all member names and work that has taken place in two required paragraphs:

  • Paragraph 1

    1. Discuss specific roles/responsibilities for each member regarding the presentation.

    1. Add a progress report on the cultural product.

  • Paragraph 2

    1. Discuss any challenges the group is working through (i.e., scheduling, collaborating, discussion on which slides to include in presentation, etc.)

    1. Include a discussion of next steps or things people are working on for next week.

In a Practice Quiz where the faculty only reviews the responses, ask two essay questions:
  1. State your individual contribution to the group project this week. Address any specific MLO that you are working on for the presentation. Below is a list of pertinent MLOs: [MLOs listed]

  1. Are there any challenges or concerns you have about this project?
