Congratulations to Dr. Jeewhan Yoon and Dr. Stephen McGuire for earning the 2015 Best Case Award for their case, “Los Angeles Fire Department: Diversity Still Ignites Discrimination” at the Western Casewriters Association (WCA) in Hawaii.
Dr. Avramchuk was recently appointed to the Chair of Academic Affairs and to the board of directors of the Healthcare Executives of Southern California.

The CBE held another successful Fast Pitch Competition on April 23rd, 2014 in La Kretz Hall. Sixteen students from a variety of majors across campus competed for awards and cash prizes. The event offers students an opportunity to pitch their business idea or appeal for funding of a project via a two minute pitch to a panel of local investors and business owners. (Read more)

BSBA Option and Certificate in Real Estate
The Cal State L.A. Department of Finance and Law is happy to announce that the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) has issued an articulation letter accepting the BSBA Option in Real Estate and Certificate in Real Estate as meeting the degree requirements for the Real Estate Broker's exam. They have also approved the Minor in Real Estate as covered under existing law.
Department of Economics and Statistics Seminar SeriesThe Department of Economics and Statistics kicked off it’s Spring Seminar Series on April 3, 2014 with an alum of the college, Dr. Joanne Song. Dr. Song is currently an assistant professor at SUNY, Buffalo. She spoke on “Unemployment Duration in the Great Recession. On May 5, 2014, Dr. Sherif Khalifa from CSU Fullerton presented his seminar “Learning by Doing and Unemployment Dynamics.” For more information on future speakers, contact Dr. Madhu Mohanty in the Department of Economics and Statistics.

Joe Hernandez, Angelica Tolentino, Stephanie Vargas, and Jeff Zhang, of the Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Lambda chapter at California State University, Los Angeles, won the Best Practices presentation at the Western Regional Beta Alpha Psi Conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada February 17th and 18th.

CBE is proud to announce their partnership with Fort Hays State University in Kansas to publish the Journal of International & Interdisciplinary Business Research (JIIBR). Look for the first volume of the publication in May 2014. The journal will host a symposium on international and interdisciplinary business research at the Cal State L.A. campus September 17-19, 2014.
