Master of Arts Admissions Information

The Master of Arts degree in Child Development strengthens professional competence and prepares individuals for various leadership positions in child and family programs.  The course of study includes a strong focus on theory and research as it applies to real world challenges.  Students completing this degree have pursued their interests in both academic and applied settings.  Graduates have gained entrance into doctoral programs and careers as community college instructors, child development specialists, evaluators, parent educators and directors of programs in both education and health care settings. 

The Department of Child and Family Studies admits MA students once a year for the Fall Quarter.  Applications are reviewed once a year and the application deadline is February 1st.   In addition to the University requirements for admission, applicants must satisfy specific departmental requirements before admission to the program.  These include:
