the Sunspot Laboratory Show What:
The Fine Arts Gallery at California State University, Los Angeles presents the Sunspot Laboratory Show, an experimental art exhibition that brings together the work of local and regional graduate students to address questions about how and why art gets shown. When:
July 16 - August 27, 1999.
Gallery Hours: Mon. - Thu., 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Opening reception: Fri., July 16, 7-9 p.m. Where:
Cal State L.A. Fine Arts Gallery, Fine Arts Building. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Fwy., at the interchange of 10 and 710 Fwys. Public permit dispenser parking available in Lot C, Lot G, or the upper level of North Parking Structure II. Curators:
Eight curators have independently arranged their own shows-within-a-show, based on criteria of their choice. Jurors for the Sunspot exhibition were professional curator Julie Joyce and Cal State L.A. professors Elizabeth Bryant, Jack Butler, Elaine Fuess, Michael Henderson, John Sanders, Christina Y. Smith and Brian Tucker. More:
The show includes video, sculpture, painting and less traditional media, such as San Francisco artist Marcy Freedman's work in hard candy on canvas. The artists come from 19 different universities in California, Arizona and Nevada. Sponsors:
