| Cal State L.A. and Oracle Corporation Los Angeles, CA - Oracle Corporation will provide comprehensive software licenses and support services for academic use to the School of Business and Economics at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State L.A.) to promote lifelong learning and address the critical shortage of information technology professionals. Cal State L.A.'s School of Business and Economics is the first of only 17 elite business school leaders in the U.S. to be included in the Oracle Academic Initiative Applications Pilot Program. This initiative will provide leading-edge, Internet-enabled business application software and training for students and faculty to create hands-on learning programs within every department and discipline in the school. School of Business and Economics Dean G. Timothy Haight said: "The Oracle Academic Initiative is a perfect fit to support our globally-focused and technology-based program. This is a major step in providing the technical base that will be essential to our students as they enter the 21st century workforce. This move will ensure that we will be at the cutting edge in the teaching of practical software applications in Southern California." Oracle Corporation Vice President for Educational Initiatives, Lori Dalton, emphasized that "It's critical that today's students get the training they need on the business software used by many of the world's largest global operations. This program helps give schools the tools that they need to ensure that their students come out on top." The Cal State L.A. School of Business and Economics first began integrating Oracle software in its information systems courses beginning with the Fall 1999 quarter and now will begin integrating Oracle's solutions into every discipline of the school. To ensure student success, all faculty members will have an opportunity to learn how to apply Oracle software. The School of Business and Economics is accredited by the International Association for Management Education and offers degrees in accounting, economics, finance, computer information systems, management and marketing. The school offers graduate programs in these disciplines in addition to the MBA and Master of Science in Health Care Management. The school was recently ranked in the top 100 undergraduate business schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. It is one of only two business schools in the Los Angeles region to be nationally ranked.
