| Cal State L.A.'s Nikos Gutrugianios LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A. menÂs soccer senior forward Nikos Gutrugianios (North Hollywood, CA/Notre Dame) and women's soccer sophomore midfielder Diane Garcia (Montebello, CA/Schurr) have each been named to the 2002 All-CCAA soccer teams, released early this morning by the CCAA office. Gutrugianios closes his Cal State L.A. career with his fourth-straight All-CCAA honor. He earned first-team accolades for the second-straight year after leading the Golden Eagles this season with 13 points (six goals, one assist). Gutrugianios wrapped up his CSULA career ranked third on the schoolÂs all-time goals scored chart (33) and fifth in total points (74). He also is now the only player in CSULA menÂs soccer history to earn all-conference honors in each of his four seasons (honorable mention in 1999 and 2000, first-team in 2001 and 2002). Former Golden Eagle All-American Luis Hernandez is the schoolÂs only other three-time All-CCAA menÂs soccer honoree (1993, 1994 and 1996). Garcia earned honorable mention All-CCAA honors this season, her first all-conference nod. She scored three goals and added one assist during the 2002 campaign, starting 17 of CSULAÂs 18 matches. Two of her three goals came on September 27 against two-time defending NCAA Division II champion UC San Diego, leading Cal State L.A. to a 2-1 upset of the Tritons. Garcia also earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for her pair of goals in that win.
