Students Los Angeles, CA -- Cal State L.A.'s MESA Engineering Program (MEP) students Jorge Arreola (Los Angeles resident), Daniel Castellanos (Montebello resident), Stephen Sherwyn (Los Angeles resident) and Cesar Robert Velasco (Los Angeles resident) were recently awarded scholarships from the NASA/NACME Space Station Engineering Scholars Program (S2ES). Along with coverage for college tuition and expenses, the $12,000 per year, renewable scholarships give these four students an opportunity to learn and participate in internships and research related to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration space projects. They will also participate in leadership seminars. The four students, who won the awards based on their academic achievements, are actively involved in student chapters of national engineering societies and have been honored on the Dean's List. The S2ES program is designed to build a pool of engineers for enhancing and supporting NASA's mission in human exploration and development of space strategic enterprise.
