| Bobby Rodriguez' Latin Jazz Christmas Trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez' wildly popular Latin Jazz Christmas has added new talent, new musical arrangements, new dancers and another featured star, Liz Torres, for the 1999 reprise of this pop music extravaganza Saturday, December 4 at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the Cal State L.A. campus. Bobby will play trumpet, of course, and lead a 23-piece orchestra through the venerable Paul Lopez' salsa arrangements of familiar and traditional Christmas tunes. The show includes a dance company, comic episodes, and surprises yet to be announced. Music critics have lauded the special work Bobby Rodriguez has done in blending Latin jazz and the rhythms of Mexico, South America and the Caribbean with other musical styles. A leading jazz educator as well as a premier performer, Bobby continues his mission to use music as a way to catch and hold the attention of young people. He has toured the country with the message that musical talent is a brain stimulant that makes high achievers from ordinary students. A Latin Jazz Christmas is another highlight in his continuing campaign for broader music and jazz education of middle school and high school youth. Bobby is president of the Hispanic Music Association, a member of the Board of Governors of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and a teacher at University of Southern California, Pasadena City College and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts on the Cal State L.A. campus. (Note: Press interviews with Bobby Rodriguez and media passes for Latin Jazz Christmas are available upon request.)
