Los Angeles, CA – To prepare future engineers interested in careers in green technology and environmental-friendly vehicles, CODA Automotive Inc. has invited Cal State L.A.’s Introduction to Technology (TECH370) class to this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show to learn about the latest in electric vehicles.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m., about 16 CSULA engineering students will attend the CODA Electric Vehicle & Battery Technology workshop. After the workshop, the students will have an opportunity to check out the new CODA sedan on display.

“I truly appreciate CODA’s commitment to outreach and public education,” said CSULA Technology Professor David Blekhman, the class instructor. “I am looking forward to a great experience for CSULA students and a learning opportunity on course-related topics.”

The L.A. Auto Show is held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles. It is located at the junction of the I-10 (Santa Monica) and the 110 (Harbor) Freeways. For hours and directions to the L.A. Auto Show, go to www.laautoshow.com.

Cal State L.A.’s College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology offers a hands-on curriculum and early research opportunities to prepare students for advanced studies and a fast-paced work environment. It is home to the National Science Foundation-funded Center for Energy and Sustainability as well as the NASA University Research Center, the first and only one of its kind in California.

The College has produced the following award-winning student projects: Solar Eagle III solar car, Mini Baja all-terrain vehicle, and an electricity-powered recumbent tricycle. Its original supermileage car was first in the U.S. in the 2004 SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Contest with 1,615 miles per gallon fuel efficiency. In 2006, Cal State L.A.’s mechanical engineering team became the first university crew west of the Mississippi—and the second overall—to achieve successful flight powered by fuel cells.
