LUCKMAN THEATRE PRESENTS CULTURE CLASH IN RADIO MAMBO: CULTURE CLASH INVADES MIAMI

Radio Mambo Replaces Anthology on the February 1 Performance Date

Culture Clash, the nation's premier Chicano/Latino comedy trio featuring the imaginative talents of Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza, will present the wildly acclaimed and award-winning Radio Mambo: Culture Clash Invades Miami at Cal State L.A's Luckman Theatre on Saturday, February 1 at 8 p.m. Radio Mambo replaces Anthology in the season brochure. Tickets are $30 and $25 for general admission and $12 for students and seniors over 65-years-old. For tickets call TicketMaster (213) 365-3500/(714)740-7878 or the Luckman box office at (323) 343-6600.

Based on dozens of interviews with Miami-area residents, the group examines all the different cultures and ethnicity's for a comic and sometimes serious portrait of a city both like and unlike Los Angeles. According to Drama-Logue, "Radio Mambo...has it all: laughs, poignancy, rich characterization, political complexity and provocative social perspectives."

Established in 1984, Culture Clash's prolific body of work includes seven full- length comedic plays, including Radio Mambo, and a multitude of comedy routines which they've toured throughout the country.

Culture Clash set a milestone when Fox Broadcasting aired Culture Clash, the first ever Latino-themed half-hour comedy sketch for TV. The group has also appeared in the films Encino Man and Hero, and were individually seen in Falling Down, Mi Vida Loca and La Carpa. Culture Clash co-produced, wrote and starred in the award-winning short film entitled Columbus On Trial. They have recently written a screenplay entitled Gomez, Gomez and Gomez, which will soon be made into a major motion picture.

Culture Clash is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 1996 Ovation award for Best Ensemble and the 1996 New York's Bessie award for Best Ensemble.

Luckman Theatre, part of The Harriet and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex, brings the performing arts, in their most creative form, to Southern California.
