Los Angeles, CA – Thousands of prospective students along with their family members will be treated to Cal State L.A.’s VIP Welcome Day Saturday, Feb. 14.
For the more than 18,000 admitted for the summer and fall quarters, it’ll be a Valentine’s Day “date” to get to know what the University has to offer. Campus officials’ hopes for the encounter are summed up in one word: “commitment.”
Many of the prospects invited will be graduating from Eagle Rock, Garfield, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Wilson high schools or transferring to Cal State L.A. from Pasadena, East Los Angeles and Los Angeles city colleges.
Making it a day to remember for future CSULA students, there will be complimentary lunches, entertainment by the CSULA Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, special giveaways, and a photo booth set up with heart-shaped balloons.
Activities will include workshops on financial aid and scholarships, and meetings with Cal State L.A.’s Colleges and Departments.
Visitors may tour a variety of campus facilities, including the new Wallis Annenberg Integrated Sciences Complex and the new University-Student Union (featuring a fitness center, expanded computer lab, 200-seat theater, outdoor plaza area and more).
There is still time for first-time freshmen to apply to Cal State L.A. The admission deadline for fall quarter 2009 is March 1st. In addition, students have until March 2 to file for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
