Canned Food Drive
The SAAC Basic Needs Canned Food Drive is an annual initiative aimed at fostering community spirit through generous contributions of canned food items. This event not only addresses food insecurity, it also engages participants by providing incentives, such as free tickets to local games.
623 items were donated.
The donation of items to the campus Food Pantry is a key part of the Cal State LA's community engagement efforts. It addresses students' basic needs and food security, fostering a culture of giving that strengthens campus bonds. This initiative encourages active participation in service projects, enhancing individual well-being and the overall campus community. By promoting these efforts, we can enrich student experiences and create a more connected environment at Cal State LA.
While Athletics lacks specific Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), we uphold core values aimed at creating opportunities for student-athletes, promoting campus welfare, and fostering connections between Athletics and the wider campus community.
The data analysis indicates a need to identify the most effective times for future food drives by examining seasonal and semester trends in campus engagement. By determining specific periods when students are more likely to contribute items for game attendance, we can optimize our collection efforts and enhance participation rates.
Athletics will create and execute an assessment plan for upcoming SAAC Basic Needs Canned Food Drives to enhance student-athlete participation and engagement in the program.
