Introduction

I teach chemistry, biochemistry, and bioinformatics courses at Cal State LA. I run a laboratory that investigates how cancer cells evade chemotherapy. Such knowledge should help us design form effective therapeutics to combat cancers. We are also interested in understanding the molecular switches that modulate protein activity. One molecular switch is oxidation of cysteine thiols. We hope to develop software tools that reliably detect such switches in proteins.
