MLK Day of Service

The MLK Day of Service, held on January 28, 2026, at Cal State LA’s John F. Kennedy Memorial Library, brought students, faculty, and campus partners together to collaboratively install and curate an MLK-themed exhibition. Led by Dr. Lani Cupchoy and Dr. Tarisi Vunidilo, the event turned the library into an active learning space where students participated in hands-on archival work and shared knowledge about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy.

The exhibition features historical photographs, posters, and personal materials connected to the Civil Rights Movement and will remain on view through Black History Month. As part of the service project, students also created 100 History Pins, contributing original research and reflections to the MLK public archives.
