The California State University Consortium of Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Programs is excited to announce the 2023 MMUF Western Regional Conference. We invite fellows in participating programs to submit proposals for the conference, to be held on November 3 and 4 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Long Beach, California.
This year’s theme, Building a New Academy, invites us to reflect on the challenges of creating inclusive academic spaces for students and faculty. We invite members to consider: What role do different types of higher education institutions play in expanding opportunities for under-represented students and faculty? How can these institutions create more equitable pathways of opportunity for aspiring professors? What structural changes need to happen to make an inclusive space for students? How do we foster a pipeline that supports different kinds of students—returning students, community college/transfer students, students in traditional 4 year institutions-- so they can then thrive as faculty? As fellows present and debate their research, we hope to consider how the cultural structures of academia shape and are shaped by those who inhabit them.

Steps to Sign-Up and Register for Event
- New users must create an account on Symposium before they can register for the event. Registration is free.
- A verification link will be generated upon completing sign up, which will be sent to the email associated with the new account. Users must open the verification email from Symposium and click the link to verify their account.
- Log in to the user's Symposium account.
- After logging in, participants will be prompted to register for the event when they navigate to the event page.
