ALEKS

ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning (or ALEKS PPL) is a comprehensive approach to accurately assess and prepare students for success in math courses available to students in the Natural and Social Sciences (NSS). With an adaptive, open-response assessment, ALEKS PPL accurately places college students into higher-level math courses. 

Registration

To register for ALEKS, please click here and select SIGN-UP. You will need the class code that was sent to you in the email invitation. 

Please make sure to enter your Campus Identification Number (CIN) correctly, so that your exam scores are transferred to your Cal State LA profile.

Testing Dates

Testing will take place at 9:00 a.m. on the following days:

  • Thursday, July 7
  • Thursday, July 14
  • Thursday, July 21
  • Thursday, July 28

Each placement exam is scored out of 100.

  • If you score a 61 or higher, you may register for Math 1083 (Trigonometry) or Math 1085 (Discrete Mathematical Models).
  • If you score a 76 or higher, you may register for Math 2110 (Calculus I) or Math 2045 (Calculus for the Life Sciences).
