Jorge Ribeiro

Jorge Ribeiro has been at Cal State LA since Spring of 1996 when he started teaching ESL through the American Culture and Language Program (ACLP), a non-profit, no-credit program for international students. He moved to the English Department in 2001 where he teaches mainly first-year composition.

Jorge holds a B.A. from Vassar College (in religion), an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University and an M.A. from California State University, Los Angeles in TESOL. He is currently at work on an EdD through the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Jorge lived and worked many years in Japan where in addition to teaching English he was a copywriter, freelance journalist and editor. He covered American companies in Japan for a now defunct magazine Business Tokyo and upon returning to the U.S. wrote about professional basketball for Hoop Japan.
