About Kevin Hines: Two years after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Kevin Hines attempted to take his own life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. He is one of only 34 (1%) to survive the fall. Now, Hines actively spreads the message of mental well-being across the globe as the author of Cracked, Not Broken: Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt. Hines has received accolades for his work as a suicide prevention advocate and speaker, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Council of Behavioral Health.

Q and A with introduction by Dr. Debbie Covino, as part of the Mind Matters campaign. Cal State L.A. President William Covino and First Lady Covino have launched this campaign to direct students toward healthcare professionals on campus who specialize in helping students deal with obstacles that get in the way of academic and personal well-being.
