Insightful and funny, Why We Laugh is a sweeping account of Black comedians in the United States, and includes interviews with prominent scholars, politicians, cultural critics, and comedians. Film followed by discussion with Darryl Littleton, author of Why We Laugh, who also performs comedy as D’Militant, as well as information on the CCC’s upcoming performance night, Dirty Laundry II (see calendar entry from 1/6 or 2/17). Directed by Robert Townsend, 2009, 90 minutes.
