The Mind Matters and One Campus, One Book initiatives present L.A. Times columnist Steve Lopez in conversation with Gary Foster, producer of The Soloist.

Gary Foster is a veteran Hollywood producer who has been active in the film and TV industry for three decades. He produced "Sleepless in Seattle," "The Score," "Tin Cup," "Lost Angels," "Daredevil," "Ghost Rider" and more.

Steve Lopez is a California native who has been an L.A. Times columnist since 2001. He is also the author of three novels, two collections of columns, and a non-fiction work called The Soloist. The Soloist is the true story of Nathanial Ayers, a gifted classical musician and former student of Julliard, whose battles with mental illness landed him on Skid Row.
