Call for Submissions: Angry Black Woman--An Evening of Monologues and Performances

We’re taking submissions and applications for our show, Angry Black Woman, scheduled for Feb. 15-16, 2018. The “Angry Black Woman” is a race-gendered myth and stereotype that promotes anti-black and anti-blackwoman thoughts, beliefs, and practices in our society, and attempts to keep black women in a simultaneous space of subordination, servitude, and silence. We’re seeking performances by Cal State LA black women students, staff, and faculty – spoken word, dance, monologues, short videos, etc… to challenge and embrace the myth with their narratives, in their voices, and in their way. Submissions accepted through 5 p.m. Nov. 13 online or at the Cross Cultural Centers.
