Description

Join Cal State LA alumna Sade Meeks for a screening of “Food as Resistance: The African American Food Story,” and a Q&A session. African American food culture is often wrongfully stereotyped, shamed, and blamed for health disparities. That's why registered dietitian and founder of GRITS Inc., Sade Meeks, is on a mission to reclaim the African American food story and highlight food's essential roles in African Americans' history, present, and future. The documentary is a blend of storytelling, nutrition, and culture. It celebrates African American foodways and demonstrates to viewers that food is more than just sustenance, it's our culture, it's our history, and it's our resistance.
