A new award this year, the Rookie of the Year Award recognizes an individual in the first year of a new role or whose contributions have already made a meaningful and measurable impact on the Cal State LA community. This award honors emerging excellence, innovation, initiative, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing the mission and values of the University.
The recipients of the Rookie of the Year Award for the fiscal year 2025-2026 (July 2025 - June 2026) will be announced during the Employee Recognition and Service Awards Celebration on Friday, September 4, 2026. All active, full-time staff, confidential employees, and management (MPP) of the University, University Auxiliary Services, Inc., the University-Student Union, and Associated Students, Inc., are eligible for nomination. Temporary employees and faculty members are not eligible. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Using the criteria below as guidelines, please provide any specific activities or job-related endeavors in which the nominee has participated, as well as why you feel this individual should receive the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award. Please provide as many details as possible. There is no limit to the number of people who may nominate an employee.
All nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.
