Cal State LA is celebrating the outstanding achievement of the Class of 2025 on May 19-21, 2025, at the historic Shrine Auditorium. There will be 9 college-based ceremonies, and graduating students will be automatically assigned to a ceremony based on their college, department, and major.

Commencement is the ceremony in which degrees are conferred and celebrates the achievement of the students who have graduated or will soon graduate during the academic year. The Class of 2025 includes the graduating candidates for fall 2024, winter 2025, spring 2025, and summer 2025.

All eligible graduating students planning to participate in the in-person ceremonies for Commencement 2025 must register in advance to attend during the registration period from March 24, 2025 at 9 a.m. (PT) until April 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. (PT).

Graduating students participating in the Commencement ceremonies must wear the appropriate academic attire. Regalia represents the three principal levels of academic achievement at Cal State LA: bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

We suggest making use of a range of parking locations or utilize several alternate options getting to the Shrine Auditorium. Due to the high participation rate of our graduating students, most of the Cal State LA Commencement ceremonies will be at capacity so please plan accordingly.

Cal State LA is committed to creating a safe and comfortable experience for the graduating students and their guests. All attendees will go through security checkpoints, metal detectors, and possible bag searches.

Each college will have a virtual college program, in lieu of a printed program, and will include a greeting from the college dean, a student address (if applicable), and the list of students for the college.
Each ceremony will have a downloadable day-of program that will include the sequence of events, the stage party participants, and the college faculty marshal participants.
As you prepare for graduation, this is a time of reflection and pride while you consider your achievements, the relationships you have built, and the legacy you will leave behind. You can honor your time at Cal State LA and make a meaningful difference on campus and the community beyond with a contribution to the 2025 Class Gift. This will support the University’s Urban Ecology Center (UEC), a critical initiative committed to environmental education, urban sustainability, and the creation of green spaces for future Golden Eagles.
We look forward to celebrating your achievement at the 2025 Commencement ceremonies. There are Commencement-related activities and events hosted by other University departments. Participation is optional but will require registration. Please make sure to be mindful of deadlines to register if planning to attend any of our campus partners’ events.
