Description

Held across three days, Sounds of the Underground: LA Music Scenes from the 1960s-2000s at the Cal State LA University Library brings together Los Angeles-based scholars, cultural workers, and music creatives to unpack the underground sounds and deep cuts of LA’s diverse popular music soundscapes.

Our Collection Day culminates the series, inviting campus and community music lovers and scenesters to digitize their personal collections of flyers, photographs, and other cultural productions, evidencing their participation in LA’s longstanding and vibrant underground music cultures. DJ Alex Transistor will curate sounds and a celebratory atmosphere for the Collection Day.

Cal State LA students, faculty, staff, and alumni as well as community members are welcome to attend.
