Pre-Nursing and Music BM programs have supplemental admission criteria. Review the items below for more information on admission to these programs.
If this information does not apply to you, go back to "Applying to Cal State LA" page.
Pre-Nursing
Admission to the Pre-Nursing program is highly competitive. In addition to meeting the minimum CSU admission requirements, Pre-Nursing applicants must also:
- A minimum 3.50 the 'A-G' courses.
- Earned a 'B' or better in the first attempt of the following year-long courses:
- Intermediate Algebra, Algebra II, or Integrated Math III
- Biology with lab
- Chemistry with lab
Applicants who meet the criteria will be ranked and offered admission on a space available basis. Local Preference may be offered to students who graduate from a high school within Cal State LA’s local service area. If offered admission, Pre-Nursing students follow a very prescribed roadmap and must meet specific course grade and GPA requirements to continue in the program.
Applicants who meet Cal State LA admission standards but are not admitted to Pre-Nursing may be offered admission to 'Exploring Health Professions' or their alternate pre-major.
Students admitted to Cal State LA as Exploring (Undeclared), or as a major other than Pre-Nursing, will not be able to change their major to Pre-Nursing or Nursing in the future.
