Name: Linda Centeno
Department: New Student and Parent Programs
My name is Linda Centeno and I am a staff member in the New Student and Parent Programs in the Division of Student Life under the direct leadership of Assistant Director of NSPP, Christopher Johnson. I want to serve on the Academic Senate because I am passionate about leadership and community. My experience working with new students and parents and my continued involvement with Mind Matter Town Hall give me a unique perspective on how the university best serves our students. Previously as an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, I worked in Student and Faculty Services for the Graduate Department of Sociology. In that experience, and as an EOP, OSD, and first-generation transfer student, my diverse experiences as a student combined with my experience serving faculty requests, have made me astute to the breadth of both student and faculty concerns. I would be honored to join Cal State LA’s Academic Senate and bring a balanced view as an advocate for improved academic procedures and policies that serve the betterment of the university through first serving its hard-working faculty and students.
