Position:

Lecturer: Bilingual clinical fieldwork dual language supervisor. Temporary faculty positions with the possibility of renewal for additional semesters.

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must hold a Multiple Subject or Single Subject teaching credential, have substantial teaching experience, hold a MA degree or higher in Education (or equivalent) from an accredited university, and has demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our University’s shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
  • Valid California clear teaching credential (multiple subject and/or single subject) authorizing English learner instruction;
  • Bilingual authorization and/ or CA bilingual education skills/knowledge;
  • Spanish or Mandarin language proficiency;
  • Graduate degree in Bilingual Education or related area; 
  • Three or more years of teaching experience in a dual language classroom in a public-school setting;
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching, and/or supervising student teachers, intern teachers, and/or apprentice teachers;
  • Knowledge of the greater Los Angeles basin public schools;
  • Current knowledge of the adopted California P-12 Preconditions, Program Standards, and Teaching Performance Expectations in multiple subject and bilingual education;
  • Experience in working on collaborative teams; and
  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion with the goal of improving teacher preparation and public education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • California credential(s) in any additional content area;
  • Prior direct experience, mentorship, and/or professional development in new teacher mentorship or supervision;
  • Experience teaching in teacher education at the post-secondary level; 
  • Experience recruiting and preparing primary and/or secondary teachers; 
  • Expertise in education technology.

Duties:

Formally observe and evaluate each student teacher a minimum of six visits throughout the semester in dual immersion or bilingual setting.
Complete a variety of assessment measures documenting each student’s mastery of Teacher Performance Expectations.
The applicant must be able to submit required observation forms and reports electronically, and must be able to attend bi-annual trainings for teacher education fieldwork supervision.

Salary:

The salary schedule information for the lecturer – AY month Classification is available based on the following rages: (per salary schedule 7/1/2022)

Lecturer A (Range 2) : $4,530 - $6,056
Lecturer B (Range 3) : $5,405 - $11,994
Lecturer C (Range 4) : $6,190 - $13,172
Lecturer D (Range 5) : $7,794 - $13,797

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
