Masters in Social Work

The Masters of Social Work program has been accredited since 1999 by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The School of Social Work Master’s program (MSW) offers three options for students interested in furthering their graduate-level social work education. The eleven-month Advanced Standing Program (MSW-ASP) has a summer start term at the Down Town Los Angeles (DTLA) campus. The traditional two-year and three-year programs start in the Fall semester at the main campus.

The MSW application is online and is included in the university online application in Quadrant 4 (Q4). There is no longer a separate application for the MSW program. To apply to the university and the MSW program, you will submit only one online application, which can be found at Cal State LA Apply (Cal State Apply | CSU). You will need to submit the current CSU Post-baccalaureate and Graduate Admission Application.

In Quadrant 4 of the university application, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • Personal statement
  • Resume
  • Unofficial transcripts from all schools attended
  • The three names and email addresses of the individuals completing your reference forms. They will receive an email with the reference form to complete and submit.
