Welcome

Welcome

Nursing is a health care profession, which systematically assists patients/clients to achieve health or health-related goals. The focus of nursing is on a health promotion system of care in which nurses provide preventive, therapeutic and restorative health care for individuals, families and communities in institutional and community based settings. It is our belief that students, endowed with the capacity for self-direction, are responsible for their own learning and self-development.
We presently offer a B.S. degree for basic/generic (pre-licensure) students and transfer RN students (those who have completed the ADN degree). Students who complete this undergraduate program will have knowledge and skills for generalist professional nursing practice and will be qualified to assume leadership roles. We also offer an M.S. degree for RNs with the BSN degree and an MSN for entry level students (those without an RN license) who have earned a baccalaureate degree in another field Students who complete the graduate program will be prepared to function in advanced practice roles.  Advanced practice options offered in the graduate program include: Nursing Education and four Nurse Practitioner options:
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP).  We have a total enrollment of over 400 baccalaureate students and approximately 200 graduate students. The full-time and part-time faculty are prepared in a wide variety of clinical specialties. The School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and fully meets the requirements of the California Board of Nursing.
