Each year the Cal State LA chapter is invited to attend the Finance Leaders' Conference in New York. The event is a two-day conference that consists of professional guest speaker panels that talk about changes in the financial and accounting industries. Students receive opportunities to learn about career preparation and continuing education.

A significant portion of the conference is the Finance Quiz Competition where 40 schools nationwide compete with one another. The competition begins with a preliminary round testing participants on financial theories and concepts, which then the top 16 schools with the highest scores advance to the final rounds.

Student Statement

"Prior to attending the FMA conference, our team was very excited about the idea of representing our university on a national level. We really wanted to show everyone what Cal State LA was all about. We selected three of our best representatives to compete against 40 other schools in the FMA Annual Finance Quiz Bowl. After months of hard work and preparation, it was a very emotional moment when we discovered our school ranked 9th place of the preliminary round and made the top 16 qualifiers list. We were later eliminated in the final rounds, but regardless we were still very proud of the progress our school made in the rankings. Thank you to the staff and faculty that made the FMA-trip possible. We are extremely grateful and honored to have represented Cal State LA."
